We've had a busy winter season updating costuming, practicing new skills, and writing brand new shows for you! You can keep up with us at judasandmagnolia.com, and we look forward to seeing you in 2017!
We have just returned to St. Louis after an extended performing engagement for the Avalon Renaissance Faire and a one weekend festival in Arkansas. We have many tales to tell and many wonderful happenings just around the corner!
This was our second year with Avalon Faire, a Renaissance Festival down in Texas. Though only in its second season, Avalon Faire is part of a larger network of other Renaissance Faires and Festivals that can be found around the country. The first incarnation of these festivals occurred back in the 70’s with the California Pleasure Faire, which was created by a university professor as an immersive educational experience for students. Today there are hundreds of these kinds of faires all around the country and though they vary in historical accuracy, they are always certain to be a good time!
At this particular renaissance faire we offered a variety of acts- face painting by Zip the Fairy, a comedy juggling show by Vip the Fool, and a daring fire escape act by Judas and Magnolia full of zany shenanigans. We enjoyed offering more developed characters and stage shows at this year’s festival, as well as providing and receiving critiques from other performers on the circuit, some of whom will be featured at this year’s St. Louis Renaissance Festival in Wentzville, MO (such as the Wonder Elixir of Life show)!
Right after our engagement at Avalon, Magnolia was due in St. Louis for a group date with her Burlesque troupe- The Kiss & Tells (more info HERE), and then we were off to Blytheville, Arkansas for their annual May Fest celebration! We provided stilt walking, face painting, balloon animals, and clowning and were thrilled to be embraced by true Southern Hospitality throughout the day and into the evening. We spent much of our time there with friends and acquaintances we had met previously at Circus Flora, and whom we look forward to seeing at this next Flora season quickly approaching!
Circus Flora’s season will start on June 2nd and go through July 3rd this year, and we are so happy to be with it and for it again this year! For Flora’s 30th year anniversary we will be unveiling Pastime, a baseball story featuring our new clown’s love for baseball! If you have yet to see a Circus Flora production, let me cordially invite you and remind you that there are only 3 cities in the United States that have their own circus – New York City with the Big Apple Circus, Chicago with the Midnight Circus, and YOUR St. Louis with Circus Flora. So be St. Louis proud and come see us under the big top this year!

Greetings ladies and gentlemen,
Ms. Magnolia Strange and I just finished an exciting performance at the annual Cirque Du Erotica, produced by Outrageous Productions. For this performance, we unveiled a water escape beside a variety of skilled entertainers whom we’d like to spotlight.
When audience members first entered the room, they could see a handful of performers (Teya King, Allura Fette, Sofie de Sade, Enigma Jade, Esmerelda Embers, CynderElla, Nada Lamont, Levian Rose, and Kat Shenanigans) placed around the stage holding positions as human statues, accompanied by live music on R-Bar’s beautiful stage. After a group dance number, featured performers included:
Greetings ladies and gentlemen,
Ms. Magnolia Strange and I have just returned from a cross country neo-Vaudeville tour of Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, and the gas stations in between.
'Born and bred in the black hills of Kentucky, The Tinderbox Circus Sideshow is a mix of vaudeville Debauchery, Classic Carnival Sideshow, Cutting-Edge Stunts, Circus Tradition, and Moonshine induced Madness!”
Last night I had the pleasure of spending my Tuesday evening at the Wayout Club enjoying the Tinderbox Circus Sideshow- a clever troupe of blockheads, fire-eaters, and sword swallowers led by a gifted female sideshow artist Miss Trashiqu. If you weren't there, you missed out! Men hammering nails up their nose and walking across broken glass are a dime-a-dozen, but not this troupe! These folks present classic sideshow stunts with fresh banter and a true charisma. Keep up with their tour dates to find out when they will be passing through St. Louis again, I know I will!
